Château de Bourneau is our private family home, ideal for a romantic setting and fairytale celebrations.
We welcome couples seeking an intimate chateau elopement or an elegant wedding filled with timeless charm.
Each year, we host a limited number of exclusive weddings from May to mid-September.
Our estate accommodates up to 100 guests, perfect for a romantic wedding or an intimate elopement.
On-site lodging is available for 46 people, ensuring comfort for you and your closest friends.

We offer a choice of beautiful settings across the estate for your ceremony and reception, tailored to your unique vision.

HOW TO GET HERE

The Château de Bourneau is located in the Vendée, in the Pays de la Loire region of western France.
It is easily accessible and ideally placed for both national and international guests arriving by car, train, or plane.
We are just one hour from three international airports: Nantes, La Rochelle, and Poitiers.
Bordeaux Airport is also within reach, at approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes by car.
The high-speed TGV station in Niort is only 45 minutes away, offering fast links to Paris and beyond.
For those arriving by car, we are just 12 minutes from the A83 motorway exit.

The Yellow Salon

This beautiful East-West facing original ballroom, in the style of Napoleon III, can accommodate intimate ceremonies for up to 30 people

The Library

(Capacity: Ceremony: 30, For dining: 20 )

The panelled Library adjoins the Yellow Salon and can accommodate an intimate ceremony for up to 30 people.

Church & Religious Ceremonies

The charming Roman Catholic church of Saint Jean-Baptiste de Bourneau is just a short walk from the château.
Built in 1059, the church sits at the heart of our medieval village and has recently been beautifully refurbished.
It is available for Christian wedding ceremonies and blessings, offering a peaceful and historic setting close to the château.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

The 16 hectare estate can provide inspiration for your own personalised ceremony. Under the grand arch of the romantic ruined 19th century orangery over-looking the wildflower meadow, the boughs of the old oak tree within the park or under a cathedral of trees within the old tree-lined drive, the marquee, or even surrounded by roses in the rose-garden in front of the Château

The Yellow Salon

This beautiful East-West facing original ballroom, in the style of Napoleon III, can accommodate an intimate reception for up to 30 guests.

The Library

(Capacity: Ceremony: 30, For dining: 20)

The adjoining panelled library’s original gothic dining table can seat up to 20 guests.

This room can be used alongside the Yellow Salon as a bar or relaxing “chill-out” area during your celebration.
It’s also perfect for a bridesmaids’ breakfast or a cosy, intimate rehearsal dinner the evening before your wedding.

Al Fresco Dining

We are located in France’s second sunniest region, making outdoor dining and open-air celebrations truly unforgettable.
Dine beneath the leafy boughs of the grand oak tree for a naturally elegant and shaded reception setting.
Or celebrate under festoon lights in the château’s front courtyard, creating a warm, romantic atmosphere as the sun sets.
We love incorporating al fresco elements into your wedding day, bringing charm, beauty, and joy to every outdoor moment.

Our Marquee

240sqm (Capacity: 100)

Our beautiful 240 sqm canvas marquee offers an elegant, light-filled space for your wedding celebration.
Dressed with festoon lights and Georgian-style windows, it overlooks the moat and the château’s stunning south façade.
Behind it, the ancient tree-lined driveway and surrounding woods add a timeless, natural backdrop.
The marquee comfortably accommodates up to 100 guests, with space for dining, a bar, and a lively dance floor.

The 19th Century Ruined Orangery

84sqm (Capacity: Ceremony interior: 100, For dining: 60)

The charming ruined orangery is a beautiful rustic and romantic blank canvas for a partially “al fresco” event. It is roofed but open air and can accommodate a sit down dinner for up to 80 guests with a view across the wild flower meadow towards the château.

The Honeymoon Suite

The sumptuous honeymoon suite is inside the château and has an adjoining private solarium winter garden for the wedding couple to relax and take breakfast overlooking the moat and the park.

We believe your wedding should be a personal, bespoke, and stress-free experience tailored to your unique vision.
For this reason, we do not offer fixed “packages,” allowing complete flexibility in planning your special day.
We require all couples to work with our lovely bilingual in-house wedding planner, who ensures smooth planning and execution.

All our weddings and events directly contribute to the restoration and maintenance of the château and its estate. Thanks to you, we are able to safe-guard this historical building for the next generations to come.
