The Château de Bourneau is our private family home but we are delighted to host a limited number of exclusive weddings each year for a maximum of 100 guests with 46 guests able to stay on site. Our wedding season runs from May to mid-September.

Inspired by Royal châteaux of the Loire Valley, the Château de Bourneau’s Renaissance splendour of turrets, surrounded by its medieval moat and set in beautiful rural Vendée, is the perfect location for an elegant and stylish romantic celebration. Whether you are dreaming of a perfect fairytale château wedding, a rustic countryside party or even an intimate and select romantic elopement, we would be delighted to host your dream day.
We can host both your Wedding Ceremony and your Reception at the Château de Bourneau in a variety of locations to suit your unique style

HOW TO GET HERE

The Château de Bourneau is situated in Vendée, Pays de La Loire in West France. It is easily accessible and only an hour’s drive from 3 international airports (Nantes, La Rochelle and Poitiers) 2hr20 from Bordeaux airport, only 45 minutes from the fast trainTGV in Niort and 12 minutes from the A83 motorway exit.

The Yellow Salon

This beautiful East-West facing original ballroom, in the style of Napoleon III, can accommodate intimate ceremonies for up to 30 people

The Library

(Capacity: Ceremony: 30, For dining: 20 )

The panelled Library adjoins the Yellow Salon and can accommodate an intimate ceremony for up to 30 people.

Church & Religious Ceremonies

The newly refurbished and charming Roman Catholic church of Saint Jean-Baptiste de Bourneau, built in 1059, is also within walking distance of the chateau in the heart of our medieval village of Bourneau and is available for Christian weddings and blessings.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

The 16 hectare estate can provide inspiration for your own personalised ceremony. Under the grand arch of the romantic ruined 19th century orangery over-looking the wildflower meadow, the boughs of the old oak tree within the park or under a cathedral of trees within the old tree-lined drive, the marquee, or even surrounded by roses in the rose-garden in front of the Château

Intimate Receptions Inside the Château

The Yellow Salon

This beautiful East-West facing original ballroom, in the style of Napoleon III, can accommodate an intimate reception for up to 30 guests.

The Library

(Capacity: Ceremony: 30, For dining: 20)

The adjoining panelled library’s original gothic dining table can seat up to 20 guests.

This room can also be used in conjunction with the Yellow Salon as an adjoining bar or “chill out zone” off The Yellow Salon, for a bridesmaid breakfast or for an intimate rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.

Al Fresco Dining

We are lucky to be situated in the second sunniest region in France and an open air wedding in front of the château is magical.

Under the leafy boughs of the great oak tree in the park or festoon lights out in front of the château courtyard, we love to host al fresco elements for your special day

Our Marquee

240sqm (Capacity: 100)

Our marquee is a beautiful canvas 240 sqm marquee, dressed with festoon lights and with Georgian-style windows overlooking the moat and the south façade of the château with our woods and tree-lined ancient driveway behind it. It is appropriate for wedding parties up to a maximum of 100 people with enough space for a bar and dance-floor.

The 19th Century Ruined Orangery

84sqm (Capacity: Ceremony interior: 100, For dining: 60)

The charming ruined orangery is a beautiful rustic and romantic blank canvas for a partially “al fresco” event. It is roofed but open air and can accommodate a sit down dinner for up to 80 guests with a view across the wild flower meadow towards the château.

The Honeymoon Suite

The sumptuous honeymoon suite is inside the château and has an adjoining private solarium winter garden for the wedding couple to relax and take breakfast overlooking the moat and the park.

We have on site accommodation for 44 guests across our 4 large holiday cottages, each with their own private garden and swimming pool. Explore here.

Le Manoir – sleeps 12 (+2 on a sofa bed in the reading/play room)

There are also other gîtes (holiday cottages), surrounding B&Bs and hotels in the area that are able to accommodate extra guests.

We believe that your wedding should be a personal, bespoke and stress-free experience, which is why we do not have any enforced “packages” and why we insist that all our couples engage our lovely bilingual in-house professional wedding planner to ensure the smooth running and planning of your special day.

All our weddings and events directly contribute to the restoration and maintenance of the château and its estate. Thanks to you, we are able to safe-guard this historical building for the next generations to come.
